NORTHEASTERN STANDARD CABOOSE

ACY, Central of NJ**, Conrail*, Chesapeake and Ohio*, Chessie***, CSX, Delaware and Hudson*, Detroit & Toledo Shore Line, Illinois Central & Gulf*, Lehigh and New England*, Lehigh Valley**, Louisville and Nashville*, Maine Central*, Norfolk and Western*, Penn Central*, Pittsburgh & West Virginia, Reading*, Rock Island*, Western Maryland**

* denotes at least 2 paintschemes
** denotes at least 4 paintschemes
*** denotes at least 8 paintschemes

Quite a lesson in Eastern roadnames on a popular caboose. Joe if you made one per month you'd be about 4 years deep at $30 a pop (retail). I think I can safely say that you make about 500 (min) of each car. Lets say a dealer gets 50% off retail translates to 500 units * 48 releases * ($30 * 50%) = $360,000 over 4 years

Thus Endeth the Lesson,
The S.

Note: Had to end with the cool Highlander quote, and correct N&W paintschemes (I can only find one but beleive there are two).

Add P&WV. Not sure how you get four paint schemes for N&W. ???

In Virginian, there have been two ribbed twin hoppers and one 50' double door boxcar (might have been the round roof version).  Some time has passed since the boxcar was released, but there has been VGN rolling stock produced by MTL.

Did Erie, Lackawanna or EL ever own those?

NORTHEASTERN STANDARD CABOOSE ...
I am surprised that MTL never manufactured this car in N scale, given that they've had the Z scale version for years and that there are considerably far more prototypical roads and schemes that can be replicated on the NE Caboose than on all of the other MTL N scale caboose models combined.

Kadee/MTL has done quite a few VGN twin hoppers, rib-side and composite too. I have most of the rib side ones.

The real Norfolk Southern?  I seem to recall looking at one of the MT gons as a close-enough standin for some NS cars.  Some more of the boxcars like MT did with the three car set would be cool, different road numbers of course.

Something else is nagging me that y'all could do with existing tooling, but it isn't clear at the moment.

Joe has heard all of my complaints before so I don't need to go on, but basically just about every "ERIE" MT car has been wrong and it is such a simple scheme.

I did ask Joe for one of these:

although I know that the scale test cars are not a great seller but come on you have to put one out in PRR please ::)

how about real PRR hoppers first - scale test car?  really?

Well that would be nice but I did not want to push my luck ;D ;D ;D and yeh a scale test car PRR had um and I want one  :P ;D

Allen...

The Bowser GLa is an accurate model of a Pennsy hopper whereas the MTL 2-bay is really a foobie for Pennsy anyway.  Bowser does (did?) the Berwind GLa...  I have one.

Just a thought,
The S.

GOOD GOSH, yes, a GOOD Northeastern Caboose is exactly what we need.  I'd be in for a Conrail and maybe a Reading.  But PLEASE, if I may...

I have 2 foobie Conrail cabooses.  One is the MTL bay-window and the other is the Atlas C&O Trainman.  The Atlas car rides nice and close to the rails and gives just the right ride height compared to the freight cars it trails.  The MTL bay window caboose almost looks like a different scale because it towers so high over the rails.  The roof is roughly the same height as an X29 boxcar.

Please, please take a cue from Atlas; they seem to have resolved the caboose ride height issue without compromising coupler height.

Troop cars in MofW schemes... Wabash, N&W, E-L are ones I can think of right off the bat.
