most of the benchwork is in - i need to move a light switch.  i'll need to install a new gang box around the corner and run some wire, the hardest part is getting the ok.  i haven't really discussed the need to install some type of lighting over the layout.  one section will be very dark, but i have a plan...

track lighting!

Good thinking...  I was lucky... I got all my track lighting on clearance.  Of course, I can't get new cans now, but I've got all I need...

Ed told me he got it off the web.  Got to be that site.  I left before it was finished.  Everytime I got within 5 feet of it, I felt my chlerostorel go up 5 points.  Ed's trying to figure a way to work scrapple into the recipe.

Tim:  the ballast in the latest blog entry looks great.  Was that with the Walgreens sprayer?  I think the problem with the Sharpie ink running came from the alcohol.  I tried something similar with the "rail clips" on the ME concrete tie track and it all washed away with the alcohol pre-wetting.   >:(

Hey Gary!

Yes those results were with the cheapie spray bottle from Walgreens. Actually it was the water soluable stuff that ran even after being sealed with Dullcote (I didnt use any alcohol, straight tap water). I think I may have to make another order with S&S and get the lighter colored stuff you mentioned in email to me. My only complaint is the head on long shot down the rails...it looks odd. I compared it to some proto photos and it "passes muster" but.... I wish I could find something smaller than #50 but larger than the dust used by Highball for "N Scale" ballast. When I placed the order that vanished into the nether regions of the USPS I asked Harley about anything smaller than 50 which he replied "50 is the smallest screen". Maybe I'll have to take matters into my own hands.

I think that on the "big" layout I'll be going with ME C55 flex too. Those spikes really standout. I'll have to do a track comparision in relation to Atlas C55 switches and tie size/spacing.

Next time we're at Lee's or potential Perryville meet I'll bring the test track with me. And I'm Sorry I hadn't emailed you back sooner -busy at the ole' Commission, when I get home I forget to reply, I wanted to write something more substantial than the "got ur msg" type email.

Little late to the game (as getting my huge backlog of pics processed took a few days), but i spent part of the weekend getting my workspace in order.


Kitbashed a narrow-gauge 40' bulkhead flat from an athearn blue-box fishbelly flat:





Also got a crew installed on my steampunk walker:

So does your walker have a rotating coupler pocket on the bottom?  I'm sure it would be useful for switching in place of a trackmobile!
