Except the Berks are in MA! This is NH, home of BM/MEC geep drags over the White Mountains!

Looking very good! I can't wait to see the view with more scenery. Those cinders make a great effect. Don't worry about train numbers , hey its your railroad you can assign any number or symbol you want even if you are modeling a prototype. Nate Goodman (Nato).

Yep, that's a GP15-1 GP30 combo leading an auto parts train around the horseshoe curve. Unbelievable!

Assuming POSE would take the B&M line, with lesser grades, and home to more "Geep Drags" Then I think they shouldn't have any problems!

The WP regularly crossed the Sierras with nothing but a fleet of Geeps (and Fs and U-Boats). Not a 6 axle in the fleet.

D&RGW used geeps on coal in the mountains, alot of times as the swing helpers.

I've a shot somewhere that I took in 97 or 99 at Cresson PA for a WB with GP40-2's and B36-7's. However, the Berkshires were home to GE for much of Big Blues existence, so the sight of a geep on any freight would be somewhat of a big deal. POSE is a GRS train? In that case, at least it has some good, reliable power on it  ;D

POSE is a CR train, theres no GRS anywhere on this layout. The layout is based on an actual plan by B&M's President Allan Dustin to have the B&M included into the creation of Conrail. The plan was no approved by the B&M's creditors and obviously they were not included, but what if they had been?

Routing is Portland(Rigby) - Franklin - Claremont - Ludlow - Hoosic Jct - Albany(Selkirk)

Doesnt even touch the Berks, only the Green and White Mountains. All the 38's and 38-2's are going to be former BM or MEC units taken in in the buyout. Most Road power will be SD60Ms, C40-8W,s and 80MAC's.  38's (some even still in MEC paint) will be pretty much helper units, while the -2's and GP15's are doing locals mostly.

The line is based on the failed Portland, Rutland, Oswego & Chicago Railroad, which actually was built by several railroads except the final stretch from Bristol, NH to Portland, ME.  One of the lead guys died in 1871 , and the merger ended up failing, and the built sections went to their respective roads.  So other than the Bristol, NH to Portland, ME section, the remainder of the line actually exists. Most of it became NYC.

Its hard to say if the Bristol, NH to Portland, ME section would have been B&M or MEC, but I am guessing that it more than likely would have been a MEC route as the MEC would have at the time wanted to absorb that RR to get an easier route west from Portland rather than send it over the B&M.

Yet another spin of the Conrail "what if" yarn...  Should make for some nice concept modeling.  That's the same primordial soup where my Laurel Valley was born!

The road that built it most likely wouldn't have failed until about the 1920's and been absorbed by MEC much like the Portland & Ogdensburgh
