Arnold S2 Conversion?

Anybody perform a DCC conversion on the Arnold S2? Wondering if there is enough room in the cab for a decoder layed flat keeping the cab windows visually clear?

Found this http://www.trainweb.org/nrmrc/dccconv/ars2.html but wondering what others have done!

Thanks,
The S

Funny, I thought this loco was the 1st N scale loco to come with "factory" DCC.

Factory "Command control" would be a better description... That decoder is a dinosaur

Wouldn't it be easier to just etch a new PC board?  The new DZ125IN with the 6 pin connection might open up a lot of possiblities here.  If a new PC board could be printed that includes a 6 pin socket (like the FVM Gevo) there's an opportunity to greatly simplify this installation.

I for one had always heard that the Arnold was impossible to do, or perhaps was too hard to do and still have a mediocre drive...

Hopefully once we all get good at this, Atlas will roll out it's DCC-ready S-2...

Probably a lot to do with the latter.  Since this loco was the first with factory DCC, the moter is already isolated and you can use the pc board to your advantage for picking up the track power.  And with a bit of work, you can sneak in front headlight.

But you will be filling the cab with the decoder.

My Dad and I added lights to the S2 by adding a channel inside the hood. Probably easier to use core wire instead. I'll have to explore the idea of creating a PC board, sounds almost too simple :) Lee I think I might run with this idea! This time around I'll use SMLEDs for headlights.
