Question re: Bedford

Along with a couple of other N scalers, I am thinking of attending the N Scale weekend.  This would be our first time and if someone could give me some insight into what to expect and if there were events or activites we should try to make, it would be appreciated.

it's all under one roof - there are vendors and layouts in the main area with a room area with clinics.  only one clinic at a time, so you won't miss anything.  i missed last year's show and am planning on being there this year.  do signup for the dinner.  good times.

This is a resonably small show.  The layouts are smaller although plentiful.  The vendors usually have pretty good deals.  The crowds are pretty good.  Just understand that if you are expecting a show of the magnitude of the Timonium show, this ain't it.

Don't get me wrong, we have been going for the past 3 or 4 years with BANTRAK and have really enjoyed it but it is a small show and is limited to the size of the Bedford Sportsplex.

Jerry got it correct.  At Bedford it is all about running trains.  The emphasis is on the layouts not the venders,  The layouts are mostly Ntrak but there are some others that are not.  The dinner, door prizes and auction are for the participants and not for the general public.  If you are an Ntrakker you need not bring a complete layout.  You may be able to join up with another Ntrak group.  But you need to register and advise what you are bringing.  Bedford is a fun event as is the Ohio N Scale Weekend which is patterned after Bedford.  It is all N Scale.  No O, no HO, no toys, dollhouses or other stuff.  Just N Scale.

Thanks for the info guys.  I am an N Scaler but not an Ntraker, so I wouldn't be bringing a layout, but it sounds like a great opportunity to meet like minded modellers.

John, having met you, I think you would really enjoy this event. Plus, there tend to be side trips, like an open house at Todd Treaster's.

It would be nice to see you guys again and from photos on the Forums it looks like Todd has made significant progress, though the layout looked good last time I saw it.

I have a lot of ambitions for N scale, but sharing a hot tub with Ed and Sean is not one of them...

I think I'm hauling a youngin' to college that weekend, but I'll see how the chips fall.
