Cool. I just checked out there site and they have pics of a painted sample. With the grabs it almost looks like HO!

It's nice to have a midwesterner doing these. Iowa Interstate right off the bat! I asked if he could do the 511 as that's the one I caught being delivered to the IAIS in Rock Island last fall. So I'm getting that one for sure even though it's completely out of anything I'm doing.

Maybe its just because I'm in HO, but $120 seems VERY reasonable for all those details, working ditch lights, and the different body styles.

Unfortunately, Kato aside, the pricing has been inching towards that area. The fact that all that is being accomplished on a first loco offering by one of the newbies in N scale manufacturing will in the end put pressure on some of the others. Especially if he hits a home run right off the bat.

I'm sure some like Skibbe and Lou will reem me out but good, but these new guys may just end up pushing N scale to a much higher level of innovation than it is now.

From the pictures in the announcement, it looks like FVN is doing UP/BNSF GEVOS and painting other roadnames on them, Disappointing. FVN when to the trouble of getting the trucks and rear headlight placement right but forgets the Right amount of vents for the dynamic brakes on the Ferromex and Iowa Interstate units.

Interesting.  (good interesting, not "huh?" interesting)  The BNSF units represent locos that were still designated as "AC4400CW" by BNSF but clearly have the larger GEVO radiator section, etc.  I'm guessing these were the first GEVO's made, or at least among the first.  Probably made the switch mid-production from the AC44's.  The number series announced was manufactured in late '03 to early '04 which is the proverbial carrot hanging on a stick for me.  

I would be tempted to slide my "Denver Road" era a little further, but then that would open up the Kato AC4400's (and a lot of other stuff) for consideration as well, and I really am not that extremely enamoured by the AC4400's or the GEVO's.  If I do anything, I'll eventually go whole-hog and move up to the beginning of the Power Bar era since I really love the ACe's.  If I did that I would likely go for a GEVO, too, but I have such a limited locomotive roster (by design) that I don't know how I would effectively incorporate such a wide era and keep the roster in check.  I love my 70MAC's.

I do like the idea of the separate grab irons though.  I have been known to make purchases in support of innovation before.

I can't tell if there are grabirons on that or not.
