[VGN50]

Arrived today in the mail.  RB&BB Advertising car is featured, of course. Very colorful.  Bay window caboose for C&NW is a bit of a surprise to me. Bright yellow, logo, flag, etc on the sides. Very busy.  Minnesota Soybean ACF Centerflow should keep the midwestern guys happy.  A WP 40' boxcar for the traditionalists, reprint of AT&SF 50' ribside, the long-awaited Woodrow Wilson car, and a reprint of the NP wagon top w/ load.  The pair of 40' boxcars w/o roofwalk for the CN I will leave to my brethren to the north to comment on.

The NP used their cars to haul veneer. They removed the car doors and the vertical posts were the only thing that kept the load in. I wasn't able to find an electronic image, but can scan one out of a book I have if you're interested.

I'll take a CNW Cab. A bunch of friends are into CNW, SOO and MIlwaukee Road and since I used to see them ALOT when I lived in NW CHicago Suburbia, I now have a growing collection of their equipment.

Holy crap in a hat!!!!  Who did this????

There are thousands upon thousands of photographs in books and online of Pennsy lightweight sleepers.  How does this happen?

I know this sounds like more of the typical shrill bashing of MTL, but it's more basic than that.  This is just basic, basic, basic research.  The lettering on the sides and the carbody actually looks decent (although all of the Pennsy Rapids series cars were Pullman 10-6 sleepers and this ain't one of them)...

Is this a production error, or did the instructions call for a Tuscan roof?

Arn't the Athearn models 50' cars? ???
I think the plug doors represent rebuilt PS1s too, not the original as delivered with 4 digit road numbers.

MT did a 50' PS1 "Westen Way" a few years ago and it was a nice job.

The last WP box car they did was a 50' PS1 with the DF1 loader paint job and it was the wrong colors and horriable art work. (See the cars done at one time by Intermountain for the correct colors and lettering)

MT has a 40' PS1 that would be a perfect match for the WP 40', but they have never done it.

I'd like MT to redo the silver 40' PS1 with orange feather with CORRECT art work this time too. They did this car along time ago, and it might be the worst art work ever on a MT car...almost Con-Coresk.

Now that my shock has subsided...  It's the easiest thing to simply repaint the roof...  But where can I find evidence of a red PRR roof on a Pullman?  ALL of my references indicate black.  I even have a book just on PRR sleepers, and I see no evidence of red roofs on lightweights.

This is Z scale,, so not my scale, but still...  Makes me wonder!

My bad, I didn't see the 40' part. Yet, the only 40-footers I am aware of that carried the Western Way logo don't match the MT car. Unlike the MT car's early Dreadnaught ends, the prototypes had either improved 4/4 Dreadnaught or the late PS1 ends (like the Athearn 50' car).

The wrong photo was printed by mistake, sometimes we have to use stunt doubles to do set ups on the Micro News...this might be what happened...but, those have black roof's in production.  Gave me a heart attack as well.
