  There was only one of these, it set the speed record on a straight streach of track in Ohio(no tunnels) ,it was just grandstanding on Central's part as they were already heavely into exiting the passenger business.On the otherhand I don't believe the RDC was a great seller for KATO remember when they were later practically giving them away, so it makes perfect logic that they would have anumber of them still left over and with a quick cosmetic add ons, the knights visor looking nose shroud and the jet engines they can have a unique item, besides it may sell well in Japan (home market).                           Nate Goodman (Nato). THE FARCICAL SIDE OF THE COLD WAR. I recently came across an English Russia feature of an experimental jet railcar.

The car is the control unit of an ER22 elektrichka with a pair of engines from the YAK-40 passenger jet on the roof.

The article says little about the purpose of the car, which may still exist somewhere in Russia. It was created a few years after the New York Central put a pair of B-36 jet engines on a Budd Car.

In the interest of national security they really couldn't allow a Jet Powered Railcar gap to occur. I wonder how many war heads this thing carried.

Well, the only thing I can take out of this... I hope they use this as an opportunity to finally run some of the more popular road names of the RDC's that they missed the first round.  (specifically Trinity Railway Express for me, and I recall someone saying the road with the largest roster of RDC's was also mysteriously absent)
