Whoa! Atlas Coil Cars!

Let's see, in the past ~year: 5700 & 5800 hoppers, 48' Pines trailers, Thrall gons, 20K & 25K tankers, now 42' coil cars.  Yes!  The work of Dave Casdorph?

I'd love to see etched walkways and corner posts on these coil cars.  They did a great job with the etched roofwalks on the hoppers.  Does anyone know if these BNSF cars are variants of the NSC car Atlas is making, or are they a different vendor?  The only obvious difference (to me) are the side sills.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of what Dave has been doing to the Atlas freight car fleet.

I agree , except for the brake wheels on the TOFC's . I think they used HO scale .

That car is decades-old tooling that pre-dates the Trainman label.  Any tooling that has been released since the product line was established, such as the 3650 centerflow and the C&O Mangor caboose, has been top notch.

Count me as glad Dave Casdorph works for Atlas, too.

Lee, sorry...that wasn't meant to start anything but there have been a couple of posts with people hoping for the coil car to be Trainman, and I felt I should counter that--in fact--I would prefer them not be.  I'm not gonna hijack the thread any further with that topic.  Feel free to PM me and I'll be glad to convey my wholly unexciting take on the whole thing.     It's simply my preference.

Somehow I don't think these will be in the Trainman. But I do hope they can hold the price down.

Who?  I had to look them up: they appear to be a Montreal branch of the French high-speed rail manufacturer.  Who'd a thunk it?  I guess I'll have to see what the Atlas models look like behind the sills to see if a bash is feasible...
