Weathering Washes

So over in the N scale thread, the consensus seems to be that washes over grey paint are the way to go for me in terms of doing a deck treatment for one of my flatcars.  Seems reasonable.

So, how do you do weathering washes?  Are you still doing dilute India ink?  have you figured out the best secret formula ever of turning ordinary Floquil paints into mediums of high weathering art?

Looking forward to hearing about (and seeing) where we are all going with this.
