Got a train running for the first time in years! ... at least over some plywood.

My 7 year old son was on the control.

When I wasn't out sailing, I did manage to build another narrow gauge flatcar.



Dave, for the interchangeable signs, you might want to try magnets.  Glue a magnet on the inside of the building and use a 1/64" thick piece of steel for the sign.

I've actually given the magnet trick some thought.  Just need to find the right materials around.

Look for one of those magnetic business card kits.  You print out your sign on Avery sticky labels, stick it on the magnetic sheet, trim to fit, and voila!  Just drive a few track nails through the wall so the heads provide enough "stickum" for the magnets.  Paint them to match the wall, and you can even do NS circa 2005 after the Black Horse shuts down the facility! (no sign... nothing left but hooks and some wire!)

I was planning to have something good to share this week, but my order from BLW is apparently on the slow boat.  Oh well, it'll be worth the wait when it gets here.  Hopefully I will have something by next Sunday.

This weekend I did my second set of number boards.

I realized that working on them in N was just too damn frustrating, so I went for 12":1' scale:

After Ed's photos from last week, I realized there was a need for more trees.  So I made about 100 last night while grilling steak!  I also added a bunch around Ohiopyle and Williamsport Jct.  Should give me a couple of new photo locations.

We had to make them. They were foamcore with ink jet printed letters and taped inside the brackets.

I painted 2 SD70MACs and 1 SD60M in CSX Dark Future (YN3) started to decal them and thought "Gee wouldn't these be neat with all the warning stickers". I should have them done by July 4th maybe.

Ht me up... if you plan to do this with a set unit each year, I can probably get you a set of numberboards made courtesy JLS.

I like it!  I imagine that the area around Ohiopyle will appear quite differently in person and in photos. You may be able to better disguise the two mainlines running through the area.  Looking good!
