Atlas Trainman boxcars

I recently was going through my rolling stock to take some photos of my modules and I came across my EL Trainman
50' double door boxcar set it up for a photo shoot and began to think this is not a bad model! I'm modeling 1979 B&O and
Conrail operations and since most of the cars I have are cars built in the 1960's and 1970's. I would like to have some real
dirty rust buckets rollin by on my freights so what better than some cars built in the 1940's and 50's. My question is
does anyone know what prototype these cars are  http://www.atlasrr.com/NFreight/n50freights.htm are they of
a specific prototype? Most of the pics I come by have the side sill running along the car like the standard PS-1's  like Athearns
model. Any pics?  ???

Based on the number series for the car in the link, these are Greenville's that Erie got in 1955. While not an exact to the seam match it's mighty close. Te same car could also be a decent stand in for an ACF. All had low hanging side sills of one sort or another. Erie had ACF is the 65000 series also so it really depends on the car number(s) you have.

Actually, they do cover the 65000's on pages 75-76. They sow the end door of one of the Auto Boxcars as well as shots of 65026 and 65044, both ACF cars.

You must have a EL book?  I have the Erie/DL&W color guide to freight and passenger equipment. Page 75 is pasted the Erie section and into the DL&W in my book.

Is the EL book worth anything to an Erie modeler?

In some cases the EL Book explains what the cars were originally bought for which I guess the book on the predecessors would also.

Beyond that the only value would be for what happened when they became EL.
