June: ACe's versus C40-8W's

Looks like June is going to be a bad month for the wallet:



Kato's site has been updated to show the first run of the SD70ACe's (UP#1, UP#2 and DRGW Heritage), the Wartime GS-4 and the red PRR GG1 as shipping on 05/28. The remaining ACe's shouldn't be too far behind.

Atlas's C40-8W was also due to ship on 05/18 which should also arrive in shops in June.

Brace yourselves!

I think there will be time to recover in between.  The Atlas locos should hit the shelves towards the end of June.  I always figure at least 30-40 days for shipping the container from China to the east coast and then another week to off load and begin shipping from Atlas.  My guess is we won't see them until the 4th of July.  Unfortunately, my pusher will probably hold the Kato's and ship them together with the 40CW's, which is sure to give Mr. Wallet a heart attack either way....  :

Oh man, I hear you.  I fear that my modeled era is about to move from 1983-84 to 1991-92.  Crap.  It already went from 1970-71 to 1983-84 within the last several months.  This is getting expensive.

I hear that! I went back from the present era to 1987-89. Now I have 17 RC racks that I have to somehow re-decal to the old TT from TTX... and 19 that are too modern (TFM, UP Building America, new image CP, etc). I also have a plethora of Kato stack cars, Atlas articulated autoracks, 5161's, and other IM covered hoppers that are superfluous to my needs. And now my SD75I's, C44-9W's, AC4400, SD90MAC's are too modern as well.

Well, I'm looking forward to these units, but there is NOTHING in that picture that would prompt me to seek these out (could have used a little less focus, in this case...).  They should just stick to roster shots.

I'm sure all the problems were just reasonable compromises, ya know, good enough is good enough.  The paint job is the most outstanding feature of this model, if thay had botched that, then you guys would have valid complaints.  And as long as the model appears to be 98% correct, everyone should just wet their pants.


That's how it goes right?  I'm just learning.
