Painted, detailed, weathered, and added DCC to a Kato Conrail SD40 in N scale. 

I submitted an article to the Conrail Historical Society webpage on what I did, although none of it was particularly challenging.  Unfortunately, Sunrise Enterprises no longer makes their N scale cab signal box, but it's an easy scratchbuild.  That's about the only real challenge.

This week saw the building of a "sort of" passenger car.....  ;D

A resin kit of this.......



A 12 man bunk car converted from a 36' Fowler (Dominion) boxcar. Used for almost anything a railway could think of, old Fowlers became very common on MOW consists. This one would have had windows cut and bunks and a stove installed and would have been home to a section gang while on the road.



(Yes, the B end ladder is missing - still awaiting a shipment from the back shop !)

A simple little kit to build; I spent more time painting and weathering it as I wanted a really haggard and used look. The car was weathered before decals and glass were installed and then again after.....

Kind of a nifty piece for the MOW consist.

I also JUST finished another TOFC flat car with pseudo rub rails and a custom trailer for it... now what this guy is doing in Southern Britsh Columbia is beyond me... maybe Lee can tell us...

That's another of Geoff Gooderham's creations - it's exclusive from Central Hobbies in Vancouver - they have them listed on their website under N scale products - Geoff Gooderham's Resin kits..... they ship world wide....

Great photos, all.

I've been out of bandwidth lately, trying to keep employed.   

So, I'll just pull one out of the archives.

Back in April 2005, I was at the Timonium, MD train show.
One of the shots I took was of Northern Virginia NTRAK member Matt
Chibbaro's "Furlow Canyon" NTrak module:



This is his tribute to the famous Malcolm Furlow's soaring
desert model railroading.   There are two loops in addition to the
3 track NTrak main line:  both are figure-8's hidden by the mountains.

Seems amazing it was 4 years ago now!    While there, I had nice chat with Lance
Mindheim at his booth; and even saw Jim FitzGerald, who was there with
his wife Lee, at the TTRaK display.

About a 1/2 mile away from present location.(really far huh?)

I spent my weekend washing down locomotives... the 611 and 1218, giving the RS3 300, C630 1135 and 1776 some much needed TLC.

Those Monon switchers are sweet !!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that livery; once owned a C628 in that very scheme in HO when I was about 12... loved it then and love it now ! Beautiful job; and although I am a devote' of "dirt" on my equipment I'd be sorely tempted to claim that had just been through the wash rack and just grime up the trucks a bit !
