That's cool, when you get them and open all of the jewel boxes, put them on the layout and snap a photo for us.

Which layout would that be?

I'll probably grab a few of the short rib, with sauce (hardee har har) but would want more if only they had separate ladders side and ends ala' Intermountain. Separate doors, not sliding necessarily but 'placeable' ones, would be nice too.

There is also a world of difference between looking at a 1:1 car in a 3"x5" photo taken in full daylight and looking at a 1:160 model in your living room with 100 watt (or less) light bulbs. With the shadows and harsh hi-lites on the prototype it is impossible to see what the detail is of a fillet between a rib and car end or what degree taper is on the top of the rib.

Any of you that have done graphics work will also know that a drawing reduced to 25% of original size will often need to be 'tweaked' to look right. Going from 1:1 to 1:160, all bets are off, many details disappear completely and the smaller details often have to be exaggerated in size or shape to 'look right'.

Years ago I was looking very closely at some GN 40' boxcars that the BN had in MOW service, all 4 cars had 4-3 Improved dreadnaught ends - but, I was surprised to discover that the end ribs were rounded on three cars and slightly flattened on the fourth car - so, ends made to the same design can be slightly different shape.

So my rating of Matt's efforts are 100%+++ accuracy. Great work Matt!!!!

Please don't let this dissuade you from doing the PRR/PC/CR X58 in N.  Even if it's "98 percent" right, I'll buy a bunch, 'cause that would be 98 percent MORE X58 than we have now!!!  I think the ribside car looks great and will be buying one for my PRR era.  Besides, the end corrugations aren't so obvious when the car is in a train.

The Con-Cor version had obvious mistakes but is still far better than that Model Power experiment-gone-bad.
