I used to blow a gasket when I put the numbers on the bug boards in HO . Unfortunately few things stand out better the those numbers no-matter what scale . Me being a lazy SOB have only done some of mine in N . Things that are worse are putting your arm in your main sawer pipe , picking someone else's nose , being told you have to drink that God awful Fleet and deal with its results to prep for a Colonoscopy (sp). Two of these things I can vouch for .

Honestly, "doing" number boards is very relaxing for me. I fill in Kato boards with Micro gloss. After several coats and letting them shrink and dry, I file them flat.

They're ready for either white or black decals, and then the numbers. IMO, they look way nicer than factory boards that are finished.

It really is relaxing, but my wife asks, "what was all the swearing about" ???

My "pet peeve"....................locos without finished number boards.

In the case of numberboards why, again, would it be easier to do black on white? It seems six of one, half dozen of another to me. Or maybe I'm not getting a joke.

One could use the computer and print them out and glue them on after cutting them to size .

Mr. Yourstone, is there somewhere one could get more photos of your layouts/models both past and present?
Seem to remember seeing a link somewhere in the past.

Thanks,

Andrew Hutchinson

Heh, well, they're all applied. But I don't know if I'm happy with them. The font doesn't quite look right.

Maybe I'll get a set of shell scale ones and do this all over again.

I ran upon this last summer. http://home.comcast.net/~atsf_arizona_2/Easy_N_Scale_Locomotive_Numberboards.html I've tried it using both black on white and white on black number boards using white decal paper.  I may have a couple of pics I could post showing the results around here somewhere.  I'm pretty happy with the results.  But I do keep looking at the shell scale ones, they look nice.

Well somebody forgot to pay the bill for the website and shortly after the PC went belly up so almost all of my pictures were lost. I starting using tinypic as a temporary dumping ground until I can get more organized, try this url http://tinypic.com/2mpjapaa

Since I discovered Shell Scale things have never been the same. Of course some models clome ready to run with numbers applyed IE; Atlas, and now Kato is changing all their cab diesels E,F, PA units to lighted and numbered boards, Nate Goodman (Nato).
