All of my N Scale stuff is packed in those two big boxes on the left.  Hope the container doesn't fall off the ship on it's way back to the states...

Haven't figured out what I'm going to do for the next 60 days while everything is on the slow boat.

Thanks John.  I just figured out who sent me the PM a few weeks ago. I didn't put two and two together to make four until just now.  :-\  We're only making it back to Ohio during my leave, but are planning a D.C. trip to see my brother in December.  He's the CSX Trainmaster at Benning Yard.

We leave Okinawa on the 16th of May.  :'(  It's been a fun three years...

A long standing "want" has been crossed off my list thanks to a Mr. Geoff Gooderham and his wonderful resin shells.....

The 2200 series of smoothside lightweight coaches are synonomous with CPR passenger service; they wore three liveries during their long lives and were ultimately sold to Mexico and the Algoma Central and others where they served almost into the 21st century.

The 2200's travelled the length and depth of Canada in their regal tuscan colours from the 1930's to the late 1960's and had a unique "semi British" look to them. Nothing commerical comes close..... until Geoff that is....



The shell was very well made - about three man hours to sand, fill, re sand and finally prime. The windows are a challenge - as the resin shell is too thick to use a interior strip so individual windows are needed - I have yet to do this - I will add windows and shades, plus B end ladders this week.



The shell was painted with my own mix of paints to obtain a CPR tuscan that I liked; gloss coated and the window frames painted with a silver. The roof is flat black, weathered. The interior is a Palace Car Company resin kit; cut up to the correct configuration and colour. I have begun to add revenue passengers.

Couplers were body mounted - adding the MT trucks was tricky as the bolster wasn't right so I removed it and used an alternate brass pipe and screw rig...... American Limited diaphrams were added - all grabs are 0.010 brass wire. Both cars were decaled with Black Cat decals.... they are great !





I am very pleased with the results so far - the coaches are "just like I remember"......

I am enjoying the challenge of the resin kits; they are time consuming; not for the faint of heart, but ultimately rewarding for the CPR fan.....

Thanks Richie - I used a number 0 brush, sliver paint and a double JD to calm my nerves....LOL

The "secret" is to let any "spill over" paint dry rather than wiping it off - if you wipe it it leaves a metalic film - if you let it dry and very sharp blade and very light pressure will "pop" it off.

Puddington, very nice 2200 coach. I`m modelling the Algoma Central in HO and I`ll need to do a few of these cars in Algoma Central colours.
In HO Scale, Norwest Kits & Castings had a resin model of these, I have one of them so far, and while Norwest has recently stopped selling any RR models, BGR Group has announced that they have picked up all the moulds and research materials from Norwest and will be releasing the kits next year. Good news for all.

I spent the last week realigning the track on the edge of my yard.  This will give me about four 40’ cars worth of extra space on two yard tracks.  A big thanks to Chris for building me the curved turnout.  It fits the existing 18” radius curve perfectly.

This is the area before the track realignment.

That stuff looks sweet! I'm planning to get my first Silflor from SE soon so I might pick up a pack of that too.
