Doc Thatcher closed the store back on June 16 2007, from what I read on the Northern Virginia NTRAK email list (due to a lease problem). The posting also reported that he was going to open another store, but the new location would be near Martinsburg, West Virginia - not sure if that ever happened.

I posted on this quite awhile ago.  He does show up at the Timonium shows.  Some of his ex employees work at a shop south of Springfield, Va. near where the large gas tanks off 95 are located.  Next time I go there I'll get the name.

Aye, I know the place.  Not sure if that place has changed since back then, but it was very limited and mostly large-scale shop.  Not much of an alternative for an N-Scaler.

They haven't changed much.  Still mostly dedicated to larger scales.  I liked Granddad's because he was the only shop that was open on Sunday's.

I liked Grandads because they had a wealth of N-Scale and Scenery Supplies, and (at least wfor a while) a great selection of Magazines.  They started to go down hill a bit before I quit the hobby, but with that said, I am still saddened to see a long-time quality shop go under.

Guess if I'm ever going back to trains, it'll be orders through my old frined Chuck (who probably has forgotton who I am, lol) or nothing now.
