Vaporware turns into Realware?

I note on Wig Wag's site that the further run of the PCM E7s (May 09) and first runs of the E8/9s (May 09) and PAs (July 09) are on their way, though they appear to have been rebranded Broadway Limited-Paragon Series.

The PRR M1a/b are still surprisingly showing on the Broadway web site.

A lot of things that are 1-2 years late are suddenly showing up. I suspect it's Sandra Kan or whoever finally putting things out the door.

PCM has gotten such a bad rap that BLI change the brand name to BLI.  ::)
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

The 2nd run of E7's are supposedly on the water, as is the entire run of E8's. The PA's are not due until July.

How come with the economic downturn there isn't quicker production time? If the factories aren't getting enough business, it seems to me that would speed things up.

Doesn't BLI have a good reputation with the HO crowd?  They sure have put out a lot of product.
I would like to order a couple of E7's but just can't pull the trigger.
My hand hovers over the "Buy" button, but I haven't hit "Send".

You think if I contact BLI now, they'll postpone the E units and fix the lower headlight?

Probably too late huh?  ::)

I can overlook the other issues with the locos, but that one keeps me from the impulse buy.

The BLI stuff I've seen in HO is impressive, especially given the price points.  However, they seem to suffer from QC problems more so than the rest.

Most people seemed to like the E-units they did produce in N.

It's very hit or miss with the HO crowd. They have had some issues with paint accuracy and mechanical reliability but just as many people liked their engines.

The technology they use is getting left behind and their business model for the Paragon series with short dealer discounts is not going to help sell product. The do alot better with the Blue Line Loco's which have sound but no DCC. The discounts are alot better which means the price to the modeller should be lower and you can put your choice of DCC decoder in it.

In their defense they have had some legal issues which soaked up a fair amount of capital. Thee issues are over and they should be able to produce more, but their reputation has suffered greatly and that will take some work to get thru.

I like my E7. Looking at the feature list of the new decoder, I hope these will be better.

I have a pair of CBQ units to put in front of a Zephyr set. If they are better, I may have pick up one to use as the basis of a B&O EA I have planned for the future.
