Anyone bsides me taken the MT Consumer Survey

  Micro Trains Line has a consumer survey on their site. Has anyone besides myself taken it ? I requsted B&O Wagon Top Box cars and obscure Wagon Top Covered Hopper. That they are thinking about upgrading to etched metal detail parts is ok, metal wheel sets is not relavent unless more details are provided ,will they be LP ,available in various sizes etc. I should have entered "NoThemed Cars" in the themed car space ,but with nothing better entered "Japanese Anime Characters". When finished you are taken to the Web Page of the Survey Company, where it would be possible to sign up and create a survey about MT versus other manufactures and whether or not you think MT should do Themed cars.     Nate Goodman (Nato). I'd take the metal wheel sets because I think MT would pull it off (+1 for various sizes). Maybe one day we'll get full metal trucks with well integrated insulators that don't mess up the detail.

Of course they will. However, like any manufacturer, they will produce what they think will sell. Which may not be what each one of us wants. I like the B&O cars. I'm wishing for a Pennsy 40' round roof to go with their 50 footer.
Strangely, most of my recent purchases have been from them. Nothing this month. Fortunate, as I'm cutting back because of the economy.

I and others have asked so many times for so long for non slinky smaller couplers that have draft gear that snaps together , and it falls on deaf ears . If they won't fix whats truly important .......................

Not a very well designed survey, IMO. Not much opportunity to respond outside their box, they assume they know what people want and don't give them a chance to confirm or deny that assumption. Plus, the fact that they have not posted the existence of that survey on places such as this site makes me wonder just how serious they are about their assumptions.

I like how the last question is rigged - the 'would you buy trucks with metal wheel sets' one. I can see how they will later use it to protect poor (IMO, mind you) decisions they might make. Like 'our customers don't like metal wheels', when what's the point of buying a set of trucks with metal wheel sets when the cars already come with trucks and there's an excellent manufacturer of metal wheel sets, sans trucks, to replace their wheel sets. The question doesn't say 'would you buy rolling stock supplied with metal wheel sets.', giving a chance for meaningful feedback. Hmmmm... maybe I should create my own survey and send them the results...

- I'd much rather see runner packs of TTX Brown and Yellow Flats (WITHOUT TRAILERS)

4. Are there any “themes” that you’d like to see Micro-Trains use for a series of releases?
- Yes, try "prototype" and "common North American freight cars".

5. What length of time is too long for a themed series for you?
- 1 Year
- Other "I don't care about themed stuff, just prototype models."

6. Would you be willing to pay more to have more detailed parts such as separate etched-metal roofwalks, incorporated into our N scale models?
- Yes

7. If trucks with metal wheel sets were made available separately from Micro-Trains would you buy them?
- Yes

I have to agree I thought the survey was pretty limiting.  For instance, I would have liked to elaborate further and just tell them to put FVM metal wheelsets in their wheels. (I know they wouldn't, but just to send the message)

I followed suit and put "Prototypes" for the theme, although I also threw them a bone and said Star Wars, figuring it would never happen anyway.  For the length of themed series, I noted that I generally don't do them.  But I also told them I probably would have done the states series if I'd been able to get the first one but since it was shorted I just gave up.

My model suggestions were a "wheel" flat car and a 4727 Carbon Black hopper.
