No lights on new decoder

I just installed a new Digitrax DN163K1B in a Kato early production SD40-2. While programming the decoder, the lights blink, but after programming and running the train, I can't get the lights to turn on using the F0 on my DT400R. Am I missing something?

I haven't had this problem before and otherwise runs fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check the manual for the decoder and see what the settings should be for the light functions.  Try doing a factory reset (CV8=8) and see if they work under those conditions.  Odds are you just pushed the wrong button during the programming.  If the lights still fail to work, send the board back to Digitrax with a frosty letter.

I had the same problem with the decoder in the Bachmann Heavy Mountain, no lights. I gave up, went to bed but it ate at me about 60 mins later I got outta bed went into the WARROOM and cranked it up. Oddly enough the lights were on and someone was home.

Bring that Heavy Mountain to the WM next time you're in the neighborhood...  I want to test drive it.

Will do, I'm waiting on drivers from Bachmann, I noted that one of the drivers is not square on the axle so it will be shopped once the parts arrive from the Philadelphia foundry. The 28 step speed decoder blows in defaults, and the yellow LED's need to be replaced too. Also the front pilot deck was uphill like the Consols that took just a little tweaking. I am going to tune it tonight and see what she can do with proper settings. It also pounds rail on my 15"r curves under load makes me think the front end is a wee light.
