What's up with Woodland Scenics latest figure releases?  It's hard to believe how far the quality level has gone down over the last few years.  Here's a photo that shows figures (the left two) from the Lubners Loading released in 2007, a figure from the 2003 released Road Crew (in the middle) and for comparison two Preiser figures from the 1997 released Businessmen Walking set (the right two).



It's interesting that the only photos you can find provided by Woodland Scenics show the larger scale figures rather than what you will really be getting.  Here's the Woodland Scenics photo of the Lubners Loading N scale figures:  http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/items.cfm/AutoScenesN#AS5326  Click on the thumbnail.  These are supposed to be the two figures shown to the left in my photo above.  Luckily Caboose Hobbies stocks most sets.  I think I'll only buy these when I've seen them in person at this point.  The Preiser sets are always excellent.  I do like the vehicles in these new Woodland Scenics figure/vehicle sets though.

That's simply not acceptable.  The Bachmann sets of the late 60's/early 70's were that bad.  I'd raise hell for as much as they charge for their sets.

probably that the people are so small that the details would be hard to spot from a few feet away. Anyway, how noticesable is an n scale 3 day beard from 3 feet away.

It seems to me the quality of people included with the autoscenes (like lubners loading) is several notches down from their regular figures.  I recently got both autoscenes (which don't always include people) and some figures, and the figures seem about the same.

It's a minor bummer, as I really like the autoscenes and think they are a great step forward....mostly.

Boy that is hideous, but thank you it  gave me a chuckle. If the one on the end is supposed to be the woman loading the trunk of the car it looks like she fell on her rump.
Yes I would take those off my list of needed layout aides.
