I looked at the YT page, neat stuff.

No chance of DCC in those units though (unless you tell me your some sort of micro engineer next.)

I don't do DCC, but there is plenty of room for a decoder. The whole cab is open except for the engineer (yes there is one). You can barely see him in the cab:

ever think of manufacturing conversion kits Chris? That HH600 is probably the best one can expect in N scale.

Get a jump before one of the big 3 start making them.

I saw his start to the boxcab and immediately stopping thinking about the plans I was making and thought of a tight-knit steam era switching layout ala Baltimore's Fells Point. Half of me says "Please Chris, do it." and the other half says "Don't. The selling off of everything I've already collected will take too long."

The street running from Fells Point all the way around to Locust Point has always held an unhealthy fascination for me...

Think of it... the B&O Tobacco Warehouse...Allied Chemical's Chromium plant, President Street Station... Central Avenue up to Hillen Street... Scarlett Seed, the Candler Building, the Power Plant (which actually wasn't served by rail, but what a building!).  Then you have Guilford Avenue with the streetcar EL, Calvert Street Station, Hillen Terminal... Back to Pratt Street to the Candler Building, the News American, McCormicks...  The industrial park at Camden Yards...  Key Highway Ship Yard!  Proctor and Gamble!  The Grain Pier at Locust Point!!!

You don't have problems with stuttering using straight DC?

I've been wanting to go DCC for some time now, but realizing that a waterfront terminal almost always maintains just one locomotive at any one time, its not a necessity for operations.

But some have said having continuous voltage to the tracks makes for better performance, just wanted to hear your take on the situation.

Hey Lee, you forgot the McCormick spices plant right on the harbor. It was one of the last industries served by the B&O in the heart of downtown.

I can not compare DC to DCC because I have never touched a DCC loco and don't plan to. To me DCC robs me of space (this is N scale) and adds extra costs all just to make my trains move. My eyes roll at every DCC "hey what decoder fits", "how do I program", "why is there smoke" post.

But I haven't had a DC loco stutter as long as the wheels and track are clean. Extra weight helps with electrical contact. Here are some videos all using DC:

When my "only way I can buy it" DCC Bachmann 44Tonner shows up the first order of business will be to rip out the whole circuit board and wire the motor direct, Then replace the circuit board spare with more weight  ;D

If you like that downtown Baltimore stuff, you'll love what I have in my possession.  In the First and Second Quarter 2008 issues of The B&O Historical Society's magazine, "The Sentinel," there's articles on the B&O's rail operations along Pratt Street (with a track plan from Mt. Clare to President and Aliceanna Streets) and an article on the Municipal Harbor Belt Railroad (the line that ran down the Key Highway). Fascinating information and something I intentionally saved for future reference.  Some of the pictures are a real hoot.

I'll try to remember to bring these magazines on Friday for your perusal.
