Working on the concrete wall (primered) for my float bridge out to the carfloat. The float bridge will have a set of turnout points on it.

Chris, your car float needs to have the rails mounted directly to the deck; rarely if ever were the railheads flush with the deck.  1/64 x 1/64 strip makes good N scale planks, just cut them to be sixteen scale feet long.

Modeling Harlem Station I see. What are you planning to use for motive power in N scale?

Coming up with similar problems, as I have been researching DL&W 25th street, Brooklyn for the past week, and same situation arises: what to use for motive power in N scale.

Is that N scale 44tonner a good running loco and with dcc?

The carfloat deck should be metal and I will cover the whole top with thin styrene leaving only the rails showing. I have never seen one with wood decking.

I'm not modeling the Harlem station, just the float bridge that was there. The end of the float bridge sits on a pontoon. There are jacks in case the water level is high. If the water is low then the locomotive would run out onto the bridge to lower it till it lined up. The overhead gantry that read "ERIE" is left over from the old wooden bridge, but was kept in place to help with maintenance. It says Erie on it so I will include it as well.

That loco in the photo is a HH660, it runs like this:

Chris, I know the HH mechinism is still being fine tuned, but have you tried putting the blunt sideframes on Kato SW trucks? They may yield betterresults. The harbor scene is really taking shape.

Bought some more track and a bunch of FVM MEC boxcars. More drywall up, and I hope to finish the mud/tape in 2 weeks.

Had 2 nice warm (40) days and that got me wanting to get working on the speeder. I needed to get it out of the back driveway, onto the trailer and bring it down to my friends shop. But first I had to spend 2 days snow blowing the back driveway to get the ~36"-40" of snow off the back driveway.

The main reason I kept the S2 trucks was the way they plugged into the S2 frame. I shortened the frame and the circuit board, so everything works like stock. I don't even know if the Kato wheelbase is the same, but no I didn't try it. The HH660 runs much quieter now, the body if full of lead and it is a brick!
