That would be awesome, I'm also working on a coach and baggage. I cant find the correct 2 wheel trucks for the coach, the closest I could find was the P2D5 Pennsy trucks which are decent stand-ins. Also working on a ROWA coach to make the "1700". Maybe I will get them all done before the next ops-session.

Hey, I just said it would match nicely.  Those are C&O colors, you know.  Besides, during the era of that car, the Bought & Owned was practically taken over by the C&O anyway.   ;D

I guess I should be careful, though.  A B&O business car pulled by a C&O locomotive on WM rails sounds like Chessie the Knife is looming.

I have to agree with Steve (Cripe... third time in a week!)  Dave, you can't really be accused of waffling, since the two roads you are debating about actually interchanged with each other, and you're just up in the air about which side of the diamond to model.  Hell, to get in the big leagues, you have be all over the map, literally... PRR in central Ohio, Milwaukee Road in Montana, L&HR in New York...  Probably some O scale narrow gauge in there too...  C'mon, Dave.  Get with the program.

You hit the nail on the head with your statement that "[I'm] just up in the air about which side of the diamond to model."  At least I was smart enough to think ahead when I chose to amass C&O equipment for my "temporary" door layout, whilst I planned that "Doswell-themed" layout.  I can still use a lot of that C&O stuff, which does give me the flexibility to model either side.

So, I know, you're right (but Steve's not ;D), but I had found that great picture of The Waffler and was just having fun with it.     Perhaps, I should save that picture for the personal branding of others when duty calls.

Yup.

The layout is located in a quonset hut which leads to interesting situations in that the walls are sloped upwards. A lot of things would be a lot simpler if we just had vertical walls to work with around the outside!

The main backdrop is 1/8" tempered masonite, where we get into situations where it needs to bend in more than one direction, or just really sharply, we'll build up a bit of a base with styrofoam. The surfaces around any joints are massively reinforced with fiberglass drywall tape and epoxy to keep things from pulling apart due to expansion/constraction of the masonite and underlying framing. Then everything is surfaced with drywall mud, which usually takes a couple weeks and several applications and a lot of smoothing/sanding to get the curves nice and smooth.

Here's an in-progress example. The curvature changes here weren't so extreme as to require building up big styrofoam sections. A couple sheets of masonite join here, and the entire area is covered in fiberglass tape to reinforce the joint and the drywall mud that goes on top. This took a few applications of mud as the middle area inside the curve itself needed to be built up a little thickly, and only so much can be applied at once, so it was layered a bit. Some more fiberglass tape was embedded into the wet mud to further reinforce it. I can grab an "after" shot tomorrow night at the club showing the completed corner. (that is, smoothed out and painted blue, we haven't started the track or scenery in this corner yet)
