My frames are 8' long L girders, and I have one end tied into the wall, and a set of legs at the other end... the equivalent span... so far no problems, although I'm noticing that one of the sidings in the paper mill has a bit of grade now, causing coal hoppers to roll out of place on their own. But I don't think it's sagged more than a couple of mm, if at all...
If you're building your L girders out of 3/4 plywood, you shouldn't have a trouble at all.
