One of our Railwire members needs to win this! Chris, Tom, Steve, Randy, Richie? I may well compete with you... See:

Imagine that, a locomotive kitbash contest open to all scales. Have at it boys and girls!

Hmm...

I wonder if my M1 would be competative...?

I would agree that MR is on the upswing lately.  The past 6 issues have definitely been much better.

In 1975, I wrote an article that was published in Model Railroader on kitbashing a PRR H10s 2-8-0. Thirty years later, in 2005, I aked Terry Thompson if MR would be interested in an article on kitbashing a PRR H3b Consolidation from an MDC 2-8-0 and was told no, he would rather have an article describing my railroad.

Neil Besougloff is evidently trying to bring back the building portion as opposed to the buying portion of the hobby, IMHO.

Also, please note that I said I'd like to see a Railwire participant win first prize, not that it had to be an N scale Railwire participant.

Remember also, it is not only the quality of the model that counts, but the ability of the modeler to describe his construction method. There's a potload of published authors on The Railwire. That grand would buy a lot of N scale stuff!

I think I'll go for it.  Can't win if I don't try.

Mmmm....

Maybe...

Pretty old base model, but pretty well documented...

Just a nose job, here.

The problem with mine is that I'd have to do a second model to A) Take all the necessary progress pictures, and B) do a more presentable job for the masses!

Plus Iain's Babyface Baldwin would kick my arse...

My vote goes to Chris's Z scale Berkshire.

Yeah, but that was more scratchbuilt than kitbashed!

It sounds like if you win you won't be getting your model back if you read line 8? :o
So I thought maybe just the text and photo's but if you read line 11, they need the
necessary postage from you to cover the return of all losing contestant's.  :-\
So if it costs you more to do this than you win........hmmmmmm.

Maybe I'm just reading this all wrong. :)

You're not submitting the model, just your article about it. If they accept it, the article and materials (photos and drawings) become their property. They will only return articles and materials that are not accepted if you provide postage; otherwise, the materials are discarded. This is SOP for most publishers.

I dunno Gregg.  A 6/1/09 deadline!  That's only 6 months!!!!!.  I'm just getting warmed up after 6 months.  Need 18 months at a minimum.   ;D  ;D  ;D
