FVM Soo Line 7-Post Cars?

Has anyone received the new Fox Valley Models Soo Line 7-Post boxcars yet? The FVM website has them shipping Dec. 12 and it looks like the six that I ordered are "in transit". Just wondering if anyone has these in their hands yet. Given the holidays and weather delays I don't have much faith that these will arrive before Christmas.

We got ours about a week/10 days ago. ScHAWeet! I'm sittin' here looking at one of my Colormarks now. Oh man! We got some wheels too last week. Never thought Matt was Santa, but several people might just have a good Christmas!

Thanks for the good news that these are out. How does the ride height look? I can't wait for mine to arrive as the Colormark scheme is an all time classic in my opinion.

Dave,

I don't pay much attention to ride height since I don't eyeball it like you proto contest guys do, but when compared with Atlas 60' Auto Parts cars and an MTL 50' there is no difference in ride height, but when compared to the Bluford 86' it does ride a bit higher.

BUT if anybody would pass on an FVM car because his ride height may be perceived as high, then they need to put their brain in a fruit cake because they are NUTS! :o

Thanks for the info. I didn't mean to give the impression that I am a "ride height snob" or trying to bash FVM. I was just curious and looking to pass the time until my cars arrive!

Mine are on the way from FRT,, I think Chuckster was putting them in the mail this past saturday... I can not wait. FVM is also doing the paralellogram logo in the next run... I WANT those too!!

You didn't Dave, I was just playing around! ;D

I wonder what we can expect next after the Horizontal Ribsides? His cars and the Bluford cars have given me an incurable case of multiple era disorder!

Got mine in the mail today,,, one word SAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-WEEEEEEETTTT. I hope he keeps making different numbers,, becuase if he does I will be all over them like white on rice.

You would think there would be a market for replacement underframes that fix all of these issues.

The FVM cars are really nice - and look very similar to the IMRC modern boxcars.

One thing different though is that the IMCR cars can be fixed by switching to Atlas trucks, while the FVM cars still look high.

Not going to stop me from buying them though...

Somebody might be considering the aftermarket underframe that might fit, but then again the MSRP would be fairly high because the expected sales would be pretty low. So it becomes a question of how much would it be worth to the few who would actually retrofit the car.

How about a replacement underframe for FVM cars that has:

1.  Correct ride height.
2.  FVM wheels (imagine that).
3.  Body mounted couplers (in either N or Z).

This upgraded underframe would also work for MT cars.

Just curious, why the interest in better detailed underframes? It seems like this stuff isn't visible unless the car is on its side. Or do you mean better detail for the brake rods (?) etc that hang down under the car?

I am waiting for my cars (along with THE weathering book) to arrive from FRT.
