Oh no. There's some stuff there I'm gonna like... Wait, are the PS2600 hoppers the new ones or the old ones? Either way... I'm a sucker for the canopener...

And I know they may be flawed, but I really like the FMC combo door cars. My ABOX ones are some of my favorite 50'ers.

I want the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) locomotive that matches the Front Runner double deck Bomb cars. Too bad it is a standin for the Motive Power Industries locos that are uaed, but it has a similar streamlined body look to it. Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake,Utah. "Yall come on out some time and ride Front Runner to the Utah State Railroad Museum in Ogden."

I was hoping Athearn was going to paint the PS 2600's for Conrail / class CE12A.  I hope they consult the Fallen Flags web site or the Morning Sun Color Guide for photographs.  They only problem with modeling the Conrail cars is each paint scheme is unique.  I hope Athearn does their homework, and models three actual photographs.  I wouldn't mind seeing an undecorated since I have some Conrail photos of these cars I could paint and decal myself.  The Erie Lackawanna cars are useful also.  Good stuff.

I just looked at the Athearn site, and they have technical artwork up for the PS2600's.  The Conrail car shown is out of the CR Color Guide / CR 876261.  Therefore, at least one number will be accurate.  I will have to wait and see the other two numbers.  I looked at my Conrail photos, and I had a lot of photos of gray cars painted post 86, but only two painted before 1984.  Bummer.  I have a photo of CR 876262, and (it was painted one month after 876261 shown in the CR Color Guide) the "CONRAIL" is on panels three through eight.  CR 876261 in the color guide has the CONRAIL on panels two through seven.  All of the other data is the same, but the placement of the name is different on the same type of car painted one month later.  Conrail is so frustrating to model for reasons like this.  Maybe I should see if Athearn wants a scan of my photo for one of there other two car numbers.  I'll stop now.

So these were oxide before they were gray? Interesting... I thought the colors denoted different services.

Ed, you are right.  Oxide was generally used for grain and gray for anything other than grain.  They are not modeling the oxide car in the color guide, just the gray one.  If you look on the Fallen Flags site, CR 876277 is another gray CE12A.  This is a fantastic broad side shot of one of these cars.  But you will note, slightly different than CR 876261.  CR876277 was painted one year later (78) than CR876261 (77), and Hollidaysburg altered the paint job yet again!.  CR 876277 has no logo!  Conrail is fun, yet maddening to model!  We need to suggest this photo to Athearn so they do another accurate road number.

Well, I'm glad to see the new Auto_Max's except that a) they're not 'green', and b) MSRP=$49.98...

Wow. N RTR SD70I, CN #5670 [ATH17403], CN #5783 [ATH17402], CN #5635 [ATH17401]

They need to grab ye old roster sheet and do some very simple research. CN has 26 SD70I's, #5600-5625. Their SD75I's are #5626-5800. The three road numbers they've announced are SD75I's, not SD70I's. Yes, there is a difference.

Sigh...
