BUMP - January 22I finally got around to painting the stepwells, and while I was doing that I remembered that there might be an extra cab signal box in my old GHQ Pennsy L1s kit, and lo and behold, there was. I ordered some more and put an example on the nose of the GP30 in the photo below. There's a couple of protuberances on the sides, but pewter is easy to cut and file, and I removed them. I still had to add bands, which in my excitement I didn't realize until I had finished with it, so I just put segments of brass wire in there. Kinda messy, I know. When I get some thin enough styrene I'll try something better.
This is a three band box. Most CR diesels used something closer to the Sunrise part. (Do you suppose any of the housings are left over from steam days, and PRR, PC and CR just used them over with new innards?)
