Play Ball!!

I just completed a Baseball field in N. I etched it out of Stainless since brass is so soft and would get damaged. It's all there; Batter Cage, Dugouts, Fences, Benches and even the bases. I will start in the morning on the diorama with Bleachers, Picnic Tables and a Concession Trailer. Here are the first pics.

That's really cool Bob. One of the guys in the Knoxville Model railroaders group built a baseball diamond that looked great.

Knoxville has some great N scale Modellers!

Very, very cool, Bob. Reminds me of a decade's worth summers spent watching Little League ball when my son played. So many fields looked exactly like that...

Very nice . It looks to be the post transition era with fence protection for the dugouts . In the 50's it was assumed you wore your glove there and paid attention to the game or else . Yours could be easily modified to that riskier time . Many Little League parks just had the batters cage , and an open air bench without a back support .... sill do . Does Preisler sell ball players in 2 uniforms ?

Of course, this will now beget an extended argument about the best color to use for infield dirt... ;D

It will also create a market for 55 gallon drum trash cans brimming with beer bottles and pizza boxes...

A common place for kids like I was to meet with fellow enthusiasts to fly our U-Control gas model planes . Usually the " Parkies " Park Workers chased us off within 2 hours because they or their bosses dictated that the risk for somebody getting a prop spinner "cone" buried in some innocent kids head was too great . No matter where we went , there was always somebody giving us the bums rush . A kid getting beaned by a ball was ok though . :-[

In case you're wondering 'how close can you go'.. here's a local favorite.  Just like what Bob is making, too.

Friendship Park in Pittsfield, PA.  The diamond is in the lower LH corner.  Thats the B&P / Allegheny / PRR line from Warren to Erie across the bottom.  As you can see, a good pop foul ball from home plate that only goes back about 70' is going to land on the rails.  The orientation of the park is with the back to the tracks, RH foul line parallel to the rails.
