From an email received from Ben at MTL:

IMHO, they did a better job on the UP-D&RGW work cars.

 ???

I have a hard time believing they worked off photos for these... the rust patterns are wonky.  Can anyone find a photo of a plug door car with door scrapes on the side like that?  I thought the doors swung out to clear the sides pretty well, unlike a sliding door car that would be more likely to scrape the sides.

And what's with the touch-up patches?  No rhyme or reason??

Hahahahahahaa - this topic has just been summed up perfectly..... I'm still laughing !
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I see they've obscured parts of the road numbers on most of them. That's one way, I suppose, of making more road numbers available without actually having to produce them...?

The paint-outs must have been an attempt to hide the annoying graffiti.  Looks like they washed all the grime off and gave the trucks/couplers a fresh coat of paint too.   Pretty sharp. ;)

And isn't that number the one spot taggers know not to cover?

I had no idea Tom would weather my cars for $6 a piece.  Package sent.

Very realistic.   I've seen prototype cars that taggers have jacked up 18" or more to get the "high rider" look.

Those look like crap.  The rust streaks are way too stark; no blending.  No overall grime as would be expected with that much rust.  Odd color patches.  Etc...

If MT wants to work on realism they should start with ride height.
