Just got back from the open house at Wash, DC Union Station.  Here's a few photos.  Wished they had more light and equipmetn spread apart better but still was great to see this equipment.

Hey Bob, where did that ACL F unit hail from?

I am wondering if it came from Florida as the RR Musuem in Miami has some nice looking ACL stuff.

It's currently owned by the North Carolina DOT Rail Division and on loan to the Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC.  The pamplet they gave out stated it has over 6,350,000 miles on it making it the highest mileage loco in the U.S.  Oh, by the way, it's an E-3, not an F unit.

My bad, I have a hard discerning them apart. Thanks though!

i heard from a buddy that the lighting was poor and the equipment was placed very close together.  we were gonna head down today but decided against it - i've seen most of the equipment that was there and honestly, i prefer to see it in the sunlight.

with that said, i think it was totally awesome of Amtrak et al to display the equipment for the general public.

Your buddy was right.  I also made a mistake of not taking another lens.  Still was great to see this.  Wish they also had some steam!

Doing some browsing, I found a similar pic on rrpicturearchives from 1970.

This fella has a really great bunch of photos, mostly from the 1960's, & it seems
the majority of them were just uploaded in the last 6 months or so. I highly
recommend browsing his album, so if you haven't came across it yet, it's worth
a browse.
