I just got my milled SW1200 frames back from Richie (UP1950s). The Kato/Con-Cor SW1200 now fits under the SW1500 body, but sits a bit high. This is not a huge problem as the SW1500 sits high on its trucks anyway.

On the plus side, the fuel tank will be able to take at least 1/4 once of tungston putty and the cab area is open enough to fit a spare Kato NW interior.

I shot handheld at f22 at 1/15sec, so there was a little bit of blur in there to begin with.  I just added a motion blur in Photoshop to the foreground and background (mainly to hid the silflor shine).  Yeah, I know...but at least I didn't add myself in the cab window. ;D

My article from a few years ago talked about intentionally blurring a photo to make plastic models look more real.

As I was forced to sit around due to my re-occurring leg infection I decided to re-work a gas station that was on the Northhill section of the PVR. If you're of a certain age you will remember "service stations" that served - the uniformed attendant; "can I check your oil today sir/madam"... cleaning windshields was automatic as was a smile and a wave..... I remember the corner Esso ( Imperial Oil up here) as a kid. "Mr. Greg" ran it and always had a sucker for a kid in the backseat while he or his boys filled you up and took care of your dad's 72 white and red Thunderbird, or mom's flame red Pinto wagon....

I wanted to re-create "Mr. Greg's" kind of Esso; but named it after a good friend who's a true "gear head"......



The station is a cast plaster affair; I re-worked it with some new decals and paint. Adding a little pavement weathering; some cars and figures finished the scene.



Two iconic Canadian brands; "Esso" or as we knew it "Imperial Oil" and the Simpson's company - there were three major department stores in Canada in the 20th century; The T. Eaton Company, The Hudson's Bay Company and my family's choice - Simpsons. Simpson's brought Sear's to Canada and formed "Simpson-Sears" in the 1960's as a catalog offshoot brand.

I worked for Simpson's as a kid, in the computer punch card roon before school.... brings back memories....





I love "micro scenes"......so, what's happening here - is she "cutting a deal" for her car servicing ? Maybe he's "making a move" on her for a date for Saturday night...? Perhaps they are already an item and just chatting - it's up to the viewer to decide.....

Cote and Son's brings back some cool memories for me !

I spent Saturday rebuilding the steering gear on a WWII landing craft at the NC Maritime Museum.

Sunday I spent in a sailboat.

i started to rework my track work after visiting the prototype.  next week i am adding the rest of the benchwork and hope to have the track work complete by the following weekend.  i need to get a double track warren truss for my river crossing...

still modeling the PRR in Ohio in 1967... for now.

Trains - diddlysquat.

Ongoing carpentry project ... but on the plus side I decided to replace the jig saw I bought as a teenager with something a bit more powerful (6amp vs 2amp!) - this should (will) make cutting the subroadbed on my old school benchwork much easier. ;D

Steve,

Curved chord = either Parker (Pratt), Pennsylvania-Petit (Pratt) or Whipple Bowstring. You need a side view to actually know which one. But since it's a PRR bridge, I'll wager it's a Pennsylvania-Petit.

there are several variations of the PA Petit along the Panhandle... some are beefier than others - the cross bracing at the top is different in the two pictures in my previous post.  for my crossing, i need 2 of the beefier cross braced models.  who makes a PA petit?
