Weekend update time ..

For me, more block detectors, I picked up 26 of the old RR-Cirkits BOD-Gs from Nick Kulp, since he is redoing his with newer non-current drop, and wiring them into DS-64s and DS-54 to send loconet messages back to the control station. I did pick up a Locobuffer USB from Litchfield this week to replace the old Locobuffer I built years ago from John Jabour's origional schematics ..

Nothing new to add this week, because the next batch of trees that I ordered did not arrive yet.  However, hopefully next week I will be able to share photos of a completely forested layout.

The theater--now on its third and final name change--is coming along. The marquee is done, the entrance is almost done, the sign just needs a trim strip, and the structure is starting to shape up.

I chose Young Frankenstein as the feature film because the structure comprises parts from two firehouse kits, two car wash kits, one ice cream stand kit, one theater kit, and a pair of chopped-down animated signs.

It's not sexy at all, but I painted the legs of my newest onetrak module black.

What a pain!

Now I just have to do the frame some time this week and it'll be ready for the show.

Moving at my usual glacial pace.  I started the NKP SD9 back, when?, March 07!  Tried resistance soldering on the handrails.  Lots of technique to master but I'm pleased with the tool.

Also have been fooling around with this Rocket Express resin kit.  Sliced off the cast on appliances.  The other end has a door.  There's a proto photo on pg 63 of the NMRA's Postwar Freight Car Fleet book.

My goal is to finish both in time to take them to Naperville.  I bought the Rocket Express kit at Naperville last year.  One year from purchase to completion - Now THAT would be a record.

Better... as if it's needed here...

So, was the loco under power so you could do a pan shot to get the scenery to blur? Or was it just really shallow depth of field (my guess)?

I continued putting decals on two Conrail X73's; Atlas FGE boxcars.  I also added end numbers to some X73's I decalled back in 1997.  I didn't beleive in end numbers at the time, but since Microscale produced the PC boxcars with PRR style letters set, I do now.

I spent the weekend building ornate entry doors for Victorian dollhouses: :)

Actually, these are some of the overlays to add detail to the piers on my bridge--14 overlays needed, to three slightly-different patterns.

I slopped some paint on one and propped it against the side of a pier, to get a notion of how things were going:

And for comparison's sake, here's a similar angle on the real bridge:

Definitely more work ahead--I'm not sure I'll have it done for the show next weekend. But the module will be going, completed or not.

This weekend was my reserve weekend for the army, so not much modeling over the last 3 days, I am stoked though, I took a PT test today, last month I took the test and Failed horribly (those of you solders and former solders my raw score was 33 Push ups, 43 sit ups and 16:05 2 mile, I am 27) But today I passed, 44, 47, and 16:32, not happy with my run times, but I am stoked about passing, this is the first time I have passed a PT tenst since I got hurt in late 2004, of corse I was Inactive ready reservefrom 2006 untill last month.

anyways, I did get some modeling done earlier in the week. all my hills and moutains are ready for paint, trees, and and grass and plants. Next big hurdle, matching the color of the dirt here in Washington.

Sorry white walls and whit plaster blen in with each other.
