I think the American Colloid is a reprint. Colloids are slaugter house remains or something likw that.

I like WP also. Any idea of what paint scheme?

I'd like to see more of the track cleaner. That gearhead motor inside is very common and available pretty cheap. It the car powered as well? How did they do the electrical pick-ups. Why does it cost so much?

Here's American Colloid's products from their web site:

American Colloid Company is one of the world’s leading producers of bentonite clay. Bentonite’s unique chemical structure gives it a diverse range of capabilities, enabling it to act as a thickener, sealant, binder, lubricant or absorbtion agent. The Company’s principle markets include metalcasting, pet products, oil and gas well drilling, industrial specialties and agriculture. With mining operations throughout North America and a sister subsidiary with mining operations throughout the world, American Colloid’s trademark Additrol line is an industry standard in the metalcasting industry. Ferro-alloy bricks and briquettes are also part of the Metalcasting Products Group’s product line. American Colloid’s Premium Gel is ideal for multiple applications in oil well drilling. The Company’s Pet Products Group also offers a complete line of traditional, scoopable and alternative cat litters.

I bet there is more interest to this than you're saying . Knowing your insightful inventiveness I bet you are going to bash that track cleaner into a Erie Triplex .

It has a speed control and direction control . So there are 2 speeds at least , and regardless of track polarity you can spin the pad in a desired direction I guess . I imagine it weighs a bunch to keep it on the track . Wonder what damage to switch points might happen . Derailments and split switch or picking while going over turnouts must have been resolved , or has it . This must leave some pad dust residue as the pad wears away , so that Atlas vacuum following in tow might be helpful . I am surprised they didn't make this in a MOW scheme first . " Custom decoder available " . So this can be controlled on the fly I guess . That might help with the turnouts . http://www.mnpinc.com/n_scale.htm

Wow!  A Micro-Trains car with metal wheels AND body mount couplers!   :o

And technically isn't the Atlas track cleaning car motorized too?

I guess MT's marketing department was tired of making up snow villages so they had to go ahead and make up false claims about being the "ONLY" motorized track cleaning car... Correct me if I'm wrong, but Tomix beat them to the punch on this one...

Fleischmann introduced a self-powered track cleaner with twin motorized track cleaning pads decades ago--early 80s, I think.

I had one and it worked fairly well; the mechanism was an example of extraordinary engineering.

Well then that pushes it back even further... Surprised they didn't say the Pre-Weathered cars were a first...

The guts of that track cleaner along with the DCC retrofit could be reconfigured to make a DCC controlled crane or some other animated thing , like a cable car up a mountain side .
