August 25, 2008

On August 14, 2008 my father, John F. Coots Jr., suffered a stroke.

He is currently under medical care.

I regret to inform you that all operations at N Scale of Nevada have been halted at this time.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause

Sincerely
Sean

I wish John well. He is one of the old timers in N scale. I have had many of his products over the years.

Always
appreciated the excellent design and quality of NSN kits.  I had been anticipating that new products would be every bit as well received including all the nuances that spelled NSN quality.  Wishing the best to all for a speedy and complete recovery...

I visited John a few years back and he was an incredibly generous host. He spent the better part of two days showing me around the Reno area and the interesting RR sites including a trip up to Portola. His work shop and layout were also very impressive.
I hope he is able to recover quickly.

His layout featured in a late 80's Model Railroader was the reason why I chose N scale.

Wish his family well.

What sad news! I spoke to John via email many times - his early kits really helped build N-scale into the serious modelling scale it is today!

Yes, I'am very saddened to hear the news, John's kits were a pioneering effort in upgrading and improving N Scale, I purchased a number of different ones over the years really loved his retroframe kit to correct the leingth of the first Atlas /Kato GP-9 diesels. oddly, i was reading the MR article on his N scale layout over the weekend.  a pioneer in the truest sense - thanks for making N scale a viable option for so many.

go gentle into that goodnight
