Cutting kato AC4400cw to make GEVO series???!!!

I was thinking of kitbashing some AC4400cw's to create the GEVO series until KATO tells us when they will come out with them I don't feel it's that difficult to do just hard to cut that shell;  so has anyone try to start making the NSES40DC units.  ; ;D

I'm going to wait for Kato... Goodness knows, we'll probably have an accurate NS ES40DC before we ever get an accurate NS C40-9W!

It's more difficult than you realise to kitbash correctly to the prototype. You'll have to construct the exhaust housing correctly, the radiator needs to be raised, the grills along both rear flanks need to be custom made, need to rearrange the doors on the hood, the cab needs altering, as does the walkways and electrical boxes etc. Lots of fine detail stuff.

I looked at the ac4400cw and NSES40DC units and it's not that diffrent other than some of those minor problem and that why I was thinking KATO will make them before the sd70ace/sd70m-2 units. the cabs need an gps block the radiator section is the only problem and I'm looking at the photos I have plus the internet. Your right it's alot of fine detailing and blma has some of the parts to help transform the taper section of the air to water exchanger.

I'm halfway through a BNSF ES44AC  and that is needing etched rear grills to make it look good. Having looked at the NS version , the rear grills a long the rear hood are going to get you but the rest isn't bad. Could probably chop bits out of the SD70MAC or SD60 shells ?

I went to that site love it I have the GE Locomtive book also; I thought about brass etching the small detail of the radiator section and I have plenty of small parts and now looking for the AC4400cw undecorated or bodyshell to start my NSES40DC and CSX units. railpictures.net has plenty of beautiful photos and study them all the time. I want to see your BNSF ES44AC; you know that they also use ES44DC units.
