AFAIK, the only common point shared by SAL and C&O was Richmond, VA, or did C&O get to Petersburg, too?

Holy cow! I had no idea, but Gregg is right. I found it and one coal trestle is still there:

Pan around, they sure didn't skimp on bridges. All the railroads in that town ride up on viaducts.

This used to be one on the Far Rockaway line just east and south of the Jamaica NY . It is more evident from the train . You can see where the trucks are pulled into the tracks , and the RR bridge over the road , Well if you follow the left edge of the left track just after the bridge going north you see where it widens to the left . When I took that route the cement supports and ties were still there . Over the years the ties were removed , and the trucks parked between the supports . I don't even see them in this shot . Which makes this dumb to post , but its already stuck in my mouse .

   Yes a very nice shot. My elementary school in suburban  Salt Lake, Utah in the 1950' still had coal furnace. There was a small coal dealer that still existed in Sugar House another SL suburb, servered by a spur off a Rio Grande branch track. coal was dumped, loaded into the trucks, must have been a tressel and delivered. Every Friday in the fall and winter heating season the red colored truck with the fancy gold letterig with black outling backed up to the school basement delivery shoot, dump bed raised up then tipped back and coal was delivered down a shoot. In the first grade we were taken on a tour of the Boiler room by Mr. Holiday the Janitor. Yes it was very spick & span, almost like a ships engine room. The original part of the building was built in 1916 with newer 1950's era wings added to each side. Later after I graduated, it was converted to I believe oil, (had this for our house at first before gas), then old center part was torn down in 1970's replaced with modern section now natural gas is the norm.                                                                                                                                  My grandparents house on my mom's side of the family was a large 2 story affair built in 1916 as a farm house. There was still an exterrior door in the basement for loading coal into a storage room, which by the 1940's had been converted to storage space as the house was by then Oil heated, later it would become gas. Ah those memories. I should have bought the Con Cor Coal Dealer kit when it was available in the 1970's from I believe Heljin. Nate Goodman (Nato).

OK, I'm a computer dummy, but how the **** do you get the map or aerial photo to take up the whole screen instead of just the upper right corner??? The map in the corner of the photo takes up 1/4 of the area.  >
