...and have a look on a prototype picture - it's not upside down, it's another type of grab iron !

Not to put a damper on this but aren't the grabs on the wrong side for the MILW H10-44?  I assumed it was a H12-44 and that's the picture I posted.

yes, the grab iron in reality is different, but i don't think it would be cost effective to tool up for that single grab iron.   since this is a macro photo, you'll never see it.  i don't think it detracts from the model at all.  then again, i have no idea what i'm talking about, i'm blind.

Curious. Speaking of those grabs, and in particular the "upside-down" ones... In many cases, the grab above the sand hatch is missing altogether. But in the case of the Friscos, the grab above the sand hatch is right-side-up, so evidently this did not interfere with its use. Sometimes the top-most grab is upside-down (really upside-down, not a specially-shaped grab). But if the top one is upside-down, it's the only one above the handrail; if there's two above the handrail, they're normal.

NO, NO, NO...it seems to be phase or rebuild change , because the older photos (in coach colors) I have in books show them on the other side as the newer photos (in orange/black).  So the model has them on the correct side. The one thing that NZ Steve pointed out correctly is that the upside down grab is actually different, whereas on the model, it is the same.
