Almost forgot today was Thursday after being in Louisville last week. Photos are still from El Paso, TX, and Ciudad Juarex, MX, in 1962:

PCC 1513 is about to undergo Customs and Immigration inspection. Another car has pulled away and yet another waits its turn.

Two cars, led by PCC 1514, in Ciudad Juarez. The second car is made up as a loaf of "Rainbo" bread!

Definitely Not El Paso..the sun sets on the Louisville & Indiana (ex PRR) bridge over the Ohio River last Thursday, June 26th.

Next week, the last electric railway line in Georgia.

Here is my first contribution to Thursday Proto Photo. Here is a NS tank train crossing Lake Cumberland at Burnside, KY on the SOU Rathole division.

Strange how this looks more like a model than a real scene.

Ahhh, but not in N. I have been commissioned to create the Burnside and the New River Gorge bridges in HO.

So N is safe.

I was in Garrettsville, OH last week. I quickly tried to figure out where the Erie mainline used to be, found it and hey look the Erie freight station is still there:

Here it is with the PAX station during the EL years, also single track.

And in much better times  ;D

I have a photo taken the same day with a P&LE PA-1 pulling.  Erie and P&LE had a joint system to provide service from Cleveland to Pittsburgh and either roads trains could be found along that line.

Chris , those cement pilings were not there in the older shot , what do you suppose they were added for , a freight platform ? Maybe the original was all wood without pilings , the removed , then the older photo was taken , then the cement pilings and platform , then the tracks and platform was removed but the pilings remained for your shot .

Richie,
The old roadbed was being used for a walk/bike path so I think those blocks are just there to keep cars from driving up the path. There is a parking area in front.

EL singletrack plan:

The coal trestle plans:

Proposal to move the freight station (guess they never did it):

I guess there are a few more stations still standing on the way to Cleveland... This part of the Erie was first built as the Cleveland and Mahoning RR, from C-town to Y-town (Youngstown)

The freight house looks to be in remarkably good shape.  Is it being preserved for the trail project, or does someone else own it?

I'll have to send Dave Foxx on a mission to Whiteford, MD to see if this old Ma & Pa wreck is still in existence.  I shot it back in the 90's

I suspect the lumber yard next to it is it's owner. Besides the lumber stacked up front, this is out back:

plus the color matches the other lumber yard buildings.

The roof does look newer.

Lee,

According to a satellite picture on Google Maps, the Whiteford, Maryland station is still there (or at least was within the last few years, depending on how recent the picture is).  The next time that I get over to Harford County (my brother lives outside Havre de Grace), I'll try to remember to run up to Whiteford and take a peek for you.  It's not very far from here.
