I bought my first Intermountain centerflows this past week, and I received them in the mail today. Prior to this, I only had Micro Trains centerflows (which I still say are the nicest covered hopper in N scale or second best next to the recent Atlas 62' four bays). When I looked at these cars, the ride height is really bad. These seem to be towering above the railhead. I dare say these are worse than any Micro Trains car. I put one on the tracks next to a Micro Trains 2 bay, and the MT car looked much better. I am really disappointed with these cars. I hate to have to modify the bolsters, since it always seems you never get them perfect. For almost 20 a crack, I expect better. On a side note, it has been brought up that some guys from Intermountain left to form another company, which I thought was Fox Valley Models. I was looking at some of my Intermountain RailBox PS 5277's and the Fox Valley FMC's. The boxes and packaging are identical. The same Chinese contractor must be producing both companies cars. I could be wrong, but I thought that was curious.
