Micro-trains pet peeves poll

Since it's a monthly routine to dump on Micro-trains. ;D  I thought it would be interesting to see what is the most offensive, plus I don't want to clean the house so I'm looking busy on my computer.  I'm sure I missed many personal choices, maybe I can add them in.

My biggest pet peeve with MT these days is not making trucks available with low profile wheels in bulk packs.

I need to purchase a few bulk packs but I have been holding out to when they come with low profile wheels. I think it is a sham that I should have to purchase new trucks and then wheels for the ones I will throw out. >

My main peeve is that when they do make an N&W car, they get the lettering wrong. How hard is it to get it right? They must delete my emails ... >

Those are both good ones.  I should have thought of them.  I would add them in but I don't think you can change you vote.

edit- I would have to reset to zero and I'm sure no one is interested in that.

The passenger trucks, 4 & 6 wheel, are due for a retool.  The detail level on them is just a step above the old Arnold stuff.

Body color is also an issue...

The MTL PRR and CR freight car colors are too brown.  I also had to fade the crap out of a Micro Trains PC boxcar that was way too dark - the prototype was a very early NYC-built car that got NYC Jade Green instead of PC Green, but Micro-Trains' car was even dark for PC Green.

I, for one, don't mind the occasional one-of-a-kind scheme from MTL.  Atlas does a fine job with the everyday runners.

But RIDE HEIGHT...!  It pains me to see a fishbelly gon sailing yards above the railhead...

Damn!  Only 4% want a 7-foot and 9-foot door option on the PS-1?  IMO, that goes hand-in-hand with the "wrong prototype" selection.  There's a TON of PS-1 options that MT could do accurately with some tweaks to the tooling.  Maybe since the PS-1 is so old it's not feasible to update?

It's still a great car, but the details limit the proto options...

I knew something looked "wrong" about the Santa Fe flatcars offered this month. They come equipped with archbar trucks, OK until about 1940, but also have a side mounted Ajax brake wheel. Properly, the cars would have a fold down vertical shaft, horizontal wheel handbrake. I suppose this is another "close enough".

Wonder how many people caught that; would catch that; would be bothered by that? I know Ed (& others) might disagree, but sometimes close enough IS good enough, imho ... it often is for Gov't work - why can't it be for a 'reduced reality' / MTL world?

Is there really an N-scale product out there that is perfect in all details, or are we each just deciding on what level of imperfection we notice / know about / are prepared to put up with?

I guess that's why we have 'rule 1'
