My grandson is 4, I built him a 5ft X 7ft L shaped starter layout for this last Christmas.

It is something that he likes and wanted so I obliged him, it was quite the surprise.

If I see something on the bay or at a hobby shop that he could use I get it for him.

I work out of town and do not get home very often to help him with it but he has other interests as well :'(.

I am of the believe that one is never too Young to be exposed to the hobby, my folks gave me a Lionel set on my 2nd Christmas ;D.

lets combine the two.
have the caboose go to a few members for photos (reasons the caboose can't stay?)
and then forward the loco to chulvis for the final solution. (strip and paint?)
hide a famous caboose in a shoe box?

I spend waaay too much money for a sparkle-ly new toy
and now no one wants to play?

the caboose is, well... not as attractive as some may like

however I liked the idea of having it run from one oops to another....
After a few visits to some layouts for photos
We can send it on to Boiler-man's grandson for his fun....
painting practice or parts or rebuilding.

Chuck said he thinks he feels an "oops!" is going to happen at his club in a couple of weeks.
that will give us time to plan a few more layout visits....

I plan to bring it to my club layout and take a shot of it for all of us to see. I may be there this coming Sunday, if not the following Sunday for sure. Ed, I will send the caboose to you after I shoot it! (figuratively speaking of course)

I was at work and unable to increase my bid, but that is OK because Sunday I went to a train show held
the Elks Lodge in Wareham, MA and spent more than I should on more rolling stock (34 cars) and a loco that caught my eye ;D.
