I just finished writing up my page on CR 2236, an Atlas GP30 that I detailed and weathered.

Swell article.  It would be fun to do models of the same unit showing it in PRR and PC garb.
Expensive, but fun!

Now that there's a Reading GP-30 available, there's another opportunity to show the differences in the predecessor roads' details.

ah so the loco shell I need is a gp30.

ok Ed on my ever growing list of projects is a 'pair?'
of creeping/shunting locos to use to twist your arm for a big pile 'o cash.

Very nice, Ed.  Good stuff for a budding new Conrail modeler such as myself.

Your model compares quite well to the photos at Fallen Flags.

...though I have a soft spot for PC paint-outs (also from Fallen Flags):



...and for the Reading, of course (Fallen Flags):



This one's hot.  First off, the faded yellow is awesome.  Then, the black paint wearing off under the RDG road number.  HOT.  Then, check out the "outline" around the cab number and CR initials on the nose!  And then, to top it off, an unpainted cab signal box.

I may need to change my pants.  Oops, I just saw that PRR boxcar in the background.  Now I do need new pants!

I'm going to have to give my 30 a workover now...  Road number 2242, just one removed from the photo you just posted, Dave.

A cab signal box can't be that hard to scratch.

This thread reminded me that I need to get a list of parts that are different on the phase 1b so I can update my old Atlas Undec Phase 2 GP30 to a Phase 1b and maybe even get going on that project ...

Ed.  Don't forget to repaint the handrails into their proper color. (I guess you've read the Atlas post on this).
