Obviously the door came off a Reading car... Would the Trainman Railbox work?

Looks an awful lot like the Atlas 50' Precision Design rib sided boxcar, although the roof is different.

The Atlas car looks good to me, aside from the size of the CR logo.

Its an X74. You can get by with the Atlas X71, and swap it out for the ReaDing door.

There has to be a better match then the Atlas PD car. What about the multitude of RBOX cars we now have?

You won't get much closer to the X74 than the Atlas PD box car. I've looked into kit bashing an X74 myself, but just haven't gotten the motivation to do it. There are three main things that you need to change. 1)Cut off the roof from the Atlas PD car and replace it with an X-panel roof (PD car has a diagonal panel roof), 2) File the ends of the sill to a 90° angle and 3) You'll need to somehow chisel off some of the raised panels on either side of the door. Once you've done all that, you'll have the closest thing you're gonna get to an X74 without someone making one in plastic. But, the X74 was such a limited car, so I wouldn't hold my breath...

Get to work Dan!

Wow, good spotting on the sill ends.  I never would have noticed that.   8)

That atlas car looks like the best starting point for that bashing project.

Since any old boxcar could have had this "feature" added, I'd do an X71...

The X74's were build by Freuhoff or someone like that, no?

What car has an X-panel roof that could be used for this?
