Atlas sells U25Bs as phase 2a and 2b, what's the difference please  ?

If you look at the parts diagram, it appears the only two parts identified as different phases are the shell and the sil.  Comparing the those two parts on past Atlas releases, you can see a difference in the battery boxes on one side and in the height of the rear most doors on the body on both sides.

Beyond that, I don't know.

The first phase(2a?) low nose has a single piece windshield with a flat nose, the 2nd (2B?)phase low nose has a two piece windshield with a slightly sloping nose if that helps. There are the high hoods too.

The only difference between a 2a and 2b is the height of the last four engine compartment doors and the arrangement of the battery boxes  below the cab on the engineer's side. The split window cab only showed up with the Ph3. Also, from the Ph3 and on, the handrails are mounted on the side of the sill instead of the top. And lastly, the sloped nose started with the Ph4 versions. The Ph4 U25B is also nearly identical to the Ph1 U28B...

Thanks guys, this has cleared up my confusion. I was trying to work out which Atlas U25 was closest to the SP's U28Bs. It seems an Atlas 2a hood, with a 2B sill and a U23 cab would be the closest starting point. Then I'd have to slope the nose and extend the stanchions.

Something to think about for a future project.

If your U28Bs came in U25B carbodies, then I would assume a U25B phase 4 would be the same as a U28B phase 1.

I have high quality castings I had mad years ago for an article of a U25B phase 3 that is a drop fit on the Atlas U25B mechanism.  Cab (2 piece windshield) and body shell (with larger exhaust stack).  You would re-use the Atlas phase 2b walkway/sidesill handrails piece.

All it would need to make it a phase 4 is a slope to the nose.
