Fox Valley FMC Railbox Cars

I just received Fox Valley Models 50' FMC Boxcars painted for RailBox today.  First, I was dissappointed with the printing on the cars.  It was not very crisp.  Micro Trains and Atlas have the best printing bar none, and these are not close to that level.  My next beef was with the demi data.  The RailBox cars have a Capacity of 160000.  I looked at an OER from 10/84, and no RailBox cars have a Capy of 160000.  The highest weight was 156000.  In addition, they don't have an AAR code  of XM or a "new" date with the left side data.  And finally, they did not print the class of the car like Intermountain, Atlas, and Athearn did.  These should be an XFF20.  I am not sure if I am going to attempt to add the missing data and change the CAPY or not.  Everyone spoke pretty well of these cars, and I don't share that sentiment.  At least towards the RBOX cars.  I will definately have to see the cars in person before I purchase them in the future.  Thanks.

I got mine today, and I think they're pretty good. The only small printing that doesn't look sharp to me is the COTS data.

I do notice some of the smaller printing on my CNA double-door cars isn't as crisp as it could be. But I still think they're nice cars overall.

I bought two ONR 50' double doors - yes, some of the date isn't as sharp as the MT's we've seen, but the car is weighted just right, the end detail blows MT and Atlas right out of the water, the cars are balanced and run so very well and the colours of the ONR's are "snap on".... in N scale I'll gladly live with slightly fuzzy data; I'm 44 and the eyes can't see it anyway.....FV has my voye.

hmmm... Micro-Trains, Intermountain & Atlas have botched Data consistently... At least FVM Spelled Railbox right. I seem to remember a certain recent Micro Trains Autorack.

I noticed the COTS label was missing from ONE of the new Atlas 5701 Grain hoppers (ADM Yellow)... Was this correct or not - I thought the yellow/gold was the LATE theme....

Personally I like the FVM cars, though they are a little high, and the usual trick of Atlas accumate trucks does not seem to affect the problem.

The FVM cars we've had at the shop looked fine to me in the boxes. Haven't put the magnifyers to them yet. There are "bobbles and oopsies" on about every brand of model railcar I've ever seen in all scales. Ride too high for ya'? You've got a project of filing down bolsters. Who says modeling is dead? :

Modernists! It's a bunch of papers stapled together, put in a manila folder, and stuck into a metal cabinet!  ;D ;D ;D

Or, if you worked for the PRR, you used a conductor's punch to punch a hole in the upper left corner and put it together with a brass brad.  :-\

I have 4 of the FVM boxcars, and I can't say I noticed that the printing is fuzzier than expected.  I did notice that their artwork appears to be more complete than usual.

I've yet to see a FVM box - they sell out before I can see them!

I ordered one of the Cotton Belters - can't wait!

I have only order three so far, but I am impressed. I will purchase more in the future. Very well done from what I have received. I am happy to see another manufacturer in "N". Especially when they are doing such a good job with rolling stock.
Off topic, but the FVM medal wheels are dynamite! I have converted 80 cars so far. First thing I noticed was two engines could pull what three were required to pull up my grades after conversion..
