Hmmm... more multi coloured SD 40-2's..... I would assume the obvious answer is that the domestic Japanese market is either asking for them or is perceived to be desirous of them and we "second class" North Americans are being allowed to purchase them too...

I now subscribe to the theory that was discussed here and elsewhere that Kato's marketing is centered on it's domestic market and we get the "scraps"... so to speak. Based on that the domestic market must have gobbled up the "pumpkin" units and this is a second kick at the cat.....

Maybe you need to have some low budget Godzilla flicks produced and shipped east with black IC units getting torched and stomped in order to educate the consumers and drum up some potential domestic business......? ;D

I don't want any SD40-2s, but I am curious why Tom included the link to Athearn's HO offerings. Trying to get N scalers to go over to the dark side, or hinting that Athearn will be making these in N some day?

Yeah, that's it.  I think that sometimes, it's easy to have blinders on and not realize whats happening in the other scales.  I would hate for anyone to be miserable because of a scant product selection that isn't a problem in another scale.
