I started with a factory painted Kato BNSF C44-9W. the front (steps, porch, ditchlights, handrails) and the trucks are from an undecorated Kato AC4400CW. some Tenax-7R, some paint, decals and detail parts later...

eBay ? what eBay ? off you go...  ;)
(...and then I will defenitaly maybe buy a decent camera)

Maybe the guy to the left of your post can spare some time to build your trees?  :)

Steve
Outstanding paint and detailing job. You most love BNSF and their quick fix on their engines.
One question I have: How do you do the black part of the screen without getting the paint into the deeper part?

Wow, very nice work.  Now if I can only talk my wife into paying more for a "repaired" loco...

thank you...

I certainly do, there are more in the make, I found five more, B and C engines...   ;D

...it's a dark wash (stronger than the wash for the whole engine) made with Methylated Spirits (Brennsprit  ;) ) and Tamiya Black - applied with a microbrush (let it dry and do the same step again till it's dirty enough)

Great work Steve!!!  Hope that model brings in some good dough!

Another method for the grills would be using a wash of India Ink (applied with a Microbrush like Steve mentioned).  I used this method on the SD70MAC below; simply wipe the excess away before it dries.

Regardless of style, they're all mounted at the same top edge height...  ;)
